Donald Saterbak Obituary

Donald Saterbak, of Montevideo, died Monday, June 20, 2022 at Copper Glen Assisted Living in Montevideo at the age of 99.

Funeral services will be held Monday, June 27, 2022 at 1:00 PM at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Montevideo.  Pastor Donald S. McKee & Pastor Marie Eckberg will officiate, and burial will be in Sunset Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM at the church the day of the funeral service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred. The family will be giving a donation in Donald's honor to the Montevideo Veterans Home.

Arrangements are with Anderson – TeBeest Funeral Home in Montevideo.

Donald Juleen Saterbak was born August 24, 1922 in Big Bend, MN to Carl and Palma (Mikkelson) Saterbak.  He was baptized and confirmed at Big Bend Lutheran Church.  Donald attended and graduated from Milan High School in 1940. After high school, he was drafted into the United States Army and served in West Point during WWII. After Donald’s service in the Army he was united in marriage to Dorothy Knutsen on June 1, 1947 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Montevideo.  They made their home in Montevideo, where Donald worked for the United States Postal Service for 39 years.

Donald was a member of the Montevideo American Legion and Independent Order of Odd Fellows.  He also was an active member at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church.  Donald enjoyed woodworking, fishing, and spending time with his family on Diamond Lake and Lake Minnewaska.

He is survived by his children: Diane (Brian) Harding of Rogers, MN, David (Ann) Saterbak of Princeton, MN, and Debra (Greg) Wahlberg of Dover, PA; grandchildren: Dawn (Steven) Bucks, Chad (Missy) Harding, Jason Harding, Michael (Melissa) Saterbak, Eric (Kathy) Saterbak, Matthew (Bailey) Saterbak, Sarah (Stephen) Adamis, James (Cheryl) Wahlberg, and Katie (Jeremy) Dillard; 20 great-grandchildren; and numerous extended family and friends.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dorothy; sisters: Melinda Ellingson, Aagot Paulson, Elna Hanson, Helen Quenemoen; and infant granddaughter Lisa Marie Saterbak.
