Following high school he started his career of working at grain elevators.  He was united in marriage to Rita Blum on August 27, 1960 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Lamberton and to this union three children were born.  They made their home in various cities including: Winnebago, Louisburg, Dawson and Granite Falls, where Dennis would work and manage the local grain elevators.

Dennis enjoyed watching sporting events of all kinds, especially his favorite Minnesota sports teams.  He was always sure to travel to his children’s and grandchildren’s school activities, even receiving the school spirit award for his dedicated commitment.  Dennis was also a frequent walker at the Kilowatt Community Center where he made many friendships.  Most of all, his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were his life and made any effort possible to spend time with them.
